It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as your Mayor these last two years. I deeply appreciate all the support I’ve received thus far and greatly enjoy working with the city council, staff, and residents to continue improving our community.

As Mayor, I’ve worked to keep our city government as small and effective as possible. Under my leadership, we actually reduced the 2017 levy and budget while ensuring that important roads, parks and building projects remain funded and on schedule.

I have also overseen:

  • Outsourcing of snow plowing and work with a new building services provider, bringing significant savings to our city while improving the quality of services.
  • Implementing a single-sort recycling program.
  • Creating an autopay system for water bills.
  • Partnering with Hamline University to assist city staff with research and development of our city’s comprehensive plan over the last four years at no cost to the city.

I am especially proud to have worked with our treasurer to identify more than a half million dollars in long-unused funds that can be used to improve the way we deliver services to residents.

As a Realtor and small business owner, I have worked hard to support our businesses, revising the city code to reflect a responsible, pro-business attitude.  We have since removed redundant ordinances, simplified and clarified existing ordinances, and greatly improved and simplified the process for Conditional Use Permits. Lakeland is now much better positioned to welcome new businesses!

There is still much to do.  I would like to keep the momentum going and continue to do the work for which you elected me.
